Ask The Economist
June 5th, 3pm UK / 7.30pm India

In an editorial published before the Indian elections we angered many of our readers by refusing to back the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Narendra Modi for India's highest office. Arguing that Mr Modi had not done enough to put Muslim fears to rest after presiding over a Hindu rampage against Muslims in Gujarat in 2002 as chief minister of the state, we opted for the Congress Party, led by the uninspiring Rahul Gandhi "as the less disturbing option". After the election, we provoked further ire and accusations of a U-turn when, in a leader article entitled "India's strong man" we argued that Mr Modi offered India its best chance ever of prosperity. Now, we're offering you a chance to ask our journalists about all aspects of our Indian coverage, as well as their thoughts on the political and economic future of the country.

Adam Roberts (@ARobertsjourno) is The Economist's South Asia bureau chief and Patrick Foulis (@PatrickFoulis) is our India business editor. Both are based in India. On Thursday June 5th at 3pm UK / 7.30pm India, they will both be available on Twitter to answer your questions about Indian politics, the economy and our coverage. The discussion will appear in the space below and on Twitter via @econdiscuss. If you have a Twitter account you can leave a question or a comment for our journalists via Twitter. Just remember to add the hashtag #askeconomist to make sure your question reaches us.
